I’m always looking for the beautiful and inspirational in my garden. This evening I captured some crabapple blossoms with a glint of the setting sun peeking through the leaves of a large photinia. Although the blooms are not yet fully open, they whisper of future summer fruits. Crabapple blossoms play out the eternal promise of spring: renewal and rebirth. After the frozen days of winter, the crabapple bursts into riotous blooms declaring victory over those dark, death-like days. Crabapples, and all of nature, inspire me to reach for the promise of spring, to seek renewal and rebirth in my own life, to ignore the cold, dark lies of winter, and to open myself up to the possibility of future summer fruits.
